About Garnet Hawk
We bring technical experience and a personal approach to our work. You can ask questions, raise concerns and expect a thoughtful answer. We want you to understand what we’re building and feel comfortable with the decisions along the way.

Dylan Pine
Founder, Garnet Hawk Solutions
Dylan Pine is the founder of Garnet Hawk. He values getting to know the people he works with, understanding what matters to them and building relationships that last beyond a single project.
We have long experience building and maintaining websites with WordPress and other content management systems. That work has shaped gHawk CMS, our own website platform. We can advise on your existing setup, help you improve it or build something new around your requirements.
Rooted in Garden River First Nation
Garnet Hawk is an Indigenous-owned business based in Garden River First Nation. Keeping our business in our home community matters to us. We want our work to contribute to local skills, opportunities and lasting relationships.
When a project involves community knowledge or traditions, we listen to the people they belong to and respect their guidance. Each community has its own priorities and ways of working.
Why Garnet Hawk?
- The hawk
- A reminder to step back, see the bigger picture and know when to act.
- The garnet
- A reminder to stay grounded and build something that can last.
How we use AI
We use AI to accelerate parts of development, research and everyday business work. Our team stays closely involved throughout: designing the solution, doing the technical work, giving precise instructions and testing the work as it develops. We question answers, correct mistakes and change course when needed. Using AI well takes experience and judgment. It adds to our capabilities; people remain in control and make the final decisions.
We help clients decide which tasks are worth using AI for and how to keep control of the process. We consider privacy, cost and reliability, choose suitable tools and agree where approvals are needed. We also help teams learn to guide the tools, challenge their answers and recognize when an answer needs more evidence.
How we build and test
We work out how the software should behave, define the rules and calculations, and put them into code we can test. Given the same inputs, settings and rules, those calculations should produce the same results.
We test both consistency and correctness, checking results against known examples and the requirements agreed with you. We also check unusual cases, missing information and what happens when a step fails.
When a feature involves an estimate, prediction or AI interpretation, we identify it and explain the information or assumptions behind it. If there isn’t enough evidence to support an answer, we design the software to flag that, ask for review or stop the affected action. Your team should be able to tell what has been calculated, what has been inferred and what still needs checking.
Working with us
-
Getting to know the project
We ask about your goals, look at the systems you already use and talk with the people who know the work. We work through real examples so we understand what a successful result should look like.
-
Scope, cost and timing
We agree on what we’re building, the budget, the schedule and how we’ll check the finished work. You know who’s doing what. If something changes, we talk it through with you before taking a different direction.
-
Development, testing and launch
You see the work as it takes shape, with time to ask questions and make adjustments. We test the calculations and behaviour against agreed requirements, including what happens when information is missing or a step fails. Before launch, we help your team learn how to use and look after what we’ve built.
